2013 Muskeg River – Shell Oil Sands Canada Forensic testing to determine cause of repeating reducer failures on overland conveyor 101.
2011 Collahuasi Chile Forensic testing to determine cause of belt failure on conveyor 205 at the Campania Minera Dona Ines de Collahuasi mine.
2010 Elkview Canada Forensic analysis on runaway conditions due to brake failures.
2009 Collahuasi Repower Chile Forensic testing to determine cause of VFD failures on Conveyor 203 at the Campania Minera Dona Ines de Collahuasi mine. The protection system did not function correctly, allowing severe electrical damage to all the VFD’s.
2000 Los Pelambres Repower Chile Conveyor system design audit to increase tonnage.
1997 Nesher Israel Cement Israel Audit of overland conveyor using dynamic and forensic testing.
1996 Phosboucraa Morocco, Africa The system had been out of commission for a number of years and was experiencing numerous problems. CDI was contracted to audit the system and identify problems using audit techniques and forensic analysis.
1990 Syncrude Fort McMurray, AB, Canada CDI predicted the shaft failure at the locking device interface.
1990 Southern Ohio Coal Ohio, USA CDI predicted the shaft failure at the locking device interface.
1990 Selby British Coal United Kingdom Forensic testing and dynamic analysis to correct a design flaw.
1989 Palabora South Africa Determined shell fatal flaw in pulley design prior to manufacturing using FEA.
1988 Kennecott – Bingham Canyon Utah, USA Subsequent to commissioning, a PWH takeup pulley failed in the shell. CDI was not involved in the pulley design. CDI investigated the shell failure and determined the shell to be under-designed. Provided engineering audit of remaining pulleys, using CDI failure criteria, and found similar shell flaws on high tension assemblies. These pulleys failed within three months of our audit.
1986 Quintette Hydraulics Tumbler Bridge, BC, Canada The overall system was experiencing controlled braking runaways, gear reducer and pulley failures, and numerous other problems. CDI was contracted to identify, analyze, and correct the problems.
