Pipe Belt Conveyor Design
Pipe belt conveyor design is a special type of belt conveyor. The belt is folded into a tubular pipe with overlap and confined by 6 idler rolls forming a hexagon. The principle benefits of pipe conveyor are its ability to negotiate sharp curves and seal the transported material. The pipe belt encloses and separates the material from the environment.
The pipe belt also has smaller the area moment of inertia compared to a trough belt with the same belt width, which facilitates the bending of the pipe belt over horizontal and vertical curves. Over the last fifteen years, pipe conveyor saw not only increased number of installations and growth in the size and complexity of the system, but also better recognition by the general material handling sector as a feasible material handling system.
